Structural ingenuity makes the facility functional and the design aesthetic possible
ESG Architects responded to an increased demand for integrated senior lifestyle choices by embarking on a series of senior living facility projects. The facility in Plymouth, MN was designed to accommodate a range of care needs, with a specialized wing for memory care. On this project, VAA provided structural engineering and construction phase services for the new multi-story building.
To support client's vision of large open spaces designated for the lobby and multi-purpose rooms, steel framing was integrated into the structural system. Careful placement was used to blend the necessary structure with the overall design. Special architectural elements, such as the turret, also contributed to the unique character of the facility. During construction, VAA worked closely with the contractor to accommodate the design requirements with the panelized wall system.
The project created one level of below grade parking and approximately 145,000 SF of independent living, assisted living and memory care units along with associated amenity spaces.
