Associate / Senior Electrical Engineer

“I’ve noticed three actions on a project that always resonate well: do it, do it right and do it right now.”

Mike is a man who thrives being on the move. When he sees a double black diamond downhill skiing he does not shy away from the challenge, he welcomes it with open poles. His drive to conquer what may be squeamish for some on the slopes is also apparent professionally in handling electrical engineering issues - with tenacity to push forward.

As VAA’s Electrical Engineering Group Manager, Mike shares his drive with the team as he manages projects and designs low- and medium-voltage electrical distribution and control systems. Mike has more than 25 years’ experience spanning utility and non-utility power generation, frac sand and industrial-ag facilities. He has a talent for quickly mastering technology and applying it to the design process. Idle time is a foreign subject to Mike. Outside the office, if he is not working on his DIY house and vehicle list, he is helping friends and neighbors with their projects. Mike also enjoys an expansive list of outdoor activities with his wife and three kids, including skiing, fishing, kayaking and camping at regional and state parks.

Mike’s work mindset is to do what is right for clients, even if it means he and his team need to spend extra time to deliver a quality product or explore other options. High points to Mike’s day include his team tackling new project hurdles where camaraderie and collaboration ensue to achieve design requirements and get the job done.
